College Football Heisman Trophy Contenders

By Connor Stewart

The Heisman trophy is awarded to the best college player each year. The Heisman tropnhy has been around for Collge Football since 1935 and every player that has one the award has taken so much pride accpeting it becasue they are getting acknowledged for being the best player of the college football season.

The picture is of last years Heisman Trophy

This season there has been so many impressive players putting themselves in contention for the Heisman, however there are only three players that it is between. Cam Ward the Quaterback for the University of Miami, Travis Hunter Wide Reciever/Cornerback for University of Colorado and Ashton Jeanty Running back from Bosie State University.

Cam Ward (QB, Miami)

Cam Ward is the best Quarterback in College Football and has announced himself as a massive contender to win the Heisman trophy. Ward has put up insane numbers in the first 10 games of the season having thrown for 3,394 yards had 32 touchdowns and only thrown 6 interceptions.

Ward has a massive opportunity to take Miami to the College Football Playoffs and possibly get a 1st round bye because of were ranked in the College Football standings.

Cam Ward is highly regarded as a top Quarterback to be taken in the 2025 NFL Draft and has a chance to be the first quarterback taken off the board, however it depends on the draft order after the NFL season is completed and what teams need a Quarterback.

Travis Hunter (WR/CB, Colorado)

Travis Hunter is the favorite for this award because he is playing two positions and is probably the best player in each position alone. Hunter is the College Football version of Shohei Ohtani in the Major League Baseball, because he can play multiple positions and dominate and tear the game to shreds. Travis Hunter has had 74 receptions, for 911 yards and 9 touchdowns and averages 91 yards a game for being a wide receiver, while on the defensive end Travis hunter has had 3 interceptions and 1 forced fumble and 8 pass breakups.

If the NFL draft started now, he should be the number 1 pick in the draft just because the NFL has not seen a player like him before and the uniqueness, he brings to the game that makes have watch so much film on him to make sure he does not create an impact on the game.

Aston Jeanty (RB, Boise State)

Ashton Jeanty is putting up ridiculous numbers as a running back in College Football, but he is also carrying the load for Boise State trying to take them to the College Football Playoffs. Jeanty has a change to break Barry sanders record for most rushing yards in a college football season which Barry Sanders accomplished in 1988 with 2,628 yards and 37 Touchdowns for Oklahoma State. Jeanty has had 256 carries, rushed 1,893 yards and had 26 touchdowns and averages 7.5 yards per carry.

Jeanty has had four 200-yard rushing games which is absurd for a running back he is basically putting up video game numbers. Jeanty is the best running back for the 2025 NFL draft and it will not surprise me if teams trade up in the draft to get the Running Back.
