The second half started quiet until Kingsway’s Joseph Hobson broke the silence in the 70th minute, Victory’s Reno Piscopo scored in the 88th and then in the dying stages Kingway’s Liam Boland scored to take the game into extra time with the score 3-3 after regulation.

A red card in the 78th minute to Victory’s Joshua Rawlins did not help Melbourne.

Both teams had their chances in extra time, but it was Liam Boland who scored a penalty in the 101st minute that put the Perth team up and they were able to hold off until the final whistle.

As soon as the final whistle blew the home crowd was ecstatic and rushed to their heroes who had just taken down one of the biggest team's in the country.
