Three minutes in, Nunawading City’s Stuart Edgar smashed a long-range strike into the net.
From then on, Nunawading controlled possession and the pace.
Alex Kubenko doubled the lead in the 16th minute.
He then calmly converted a penalty in the 24th to make it 3-0.
Darwin Olympic’s day got worse in the 28th when Abhishek Rijal was sent off with a red card.
Nunawading kept the pressure on.
Denis Daluri scored in the 36th minute.
Then, in the 39th, Taira Yoshimura and Daluri combined for a slick one-two before Yoshimura finished it off.
Just before halftime, Stuart Edgar struck again off a neat pass from Daluri to make it 6-0.

Edgar completed his hat-trick in the 52nd minute.
Carlos Abboud added the eighth in the 68th.
That goal tied the highest score ever in Australia Cup Finals history.
In the 87th minute, Haris Hodzic sealed the deal with the ninth goal.

Nunawading City set a new record for biggest win and highest score, surpassing Sydney FC’s 2017 blowout of Darwin Rovers.
For a team in NPL3 Victoria, Nunawading have done their club and suburb proud.
They travelled north as underdogs.
They return home with a place in the Round of 16 and in the record books.
