Carlton key tall Brodie Kemp has been spending time trialing as a forward heading into the 2025 season.
Kemp, who was drafted by the Blues in 2019, has spent almost all of his time at the club playing as a defender.

However, coach Michael Voss has been trialling some positional changes leading into 2025, with Ollie Hollands and Jack Silvagni both spending time training in the backline this pre-season.
One of those changes has been Kemp moving into the forward line, with the Blue talking with Triple M’s Rush Hour about his new role and how it will play out during the year.
“At this stage, you’ll be seeing me as a forward to start the year,” Kemp said.
“That’s always subject to change in any team in any position, where you might have to play elsewhere, but my role so far is as a forward.”
Kemp spent a brief period during the 2024 season in the forward line, playing the final three games for the year in that role when the Blues lost their two key forwards Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay to injury.
Kemp played as the number one forward against the West Coast and St Kilda, managing to kick five goals in those two games (including a bag of four against the Eagles), before partnering as a second key forward target with the returning Harry McKay in the elimination final against Brisbane.

The Blues will be looking to add more versatility in their playing group, with Voss talking to Carlton Media late last year about Kemp and Silvagni switching roles.
“The strength of being able to do that is we know they can flick to other roles if we need to,” Voss said.
“We know ‘SOS’ (Silvagni) can go forward, we know ‘Kempy’ can go back. We feel like a pre-season spent there will add to us and add to them.”
Carlton will have their first hitout of 2025 when they play St Kilda in a match simulation on February 22 at Ikon Park.
