Melbourne’s excitement machine Kysaiah Pickett has once again awakened trade rumours after liking posts that signal he is ready for a move to Western Australia.
Near the end of Melbourne’s tumultuous 2024 season, Channel Seven’s Mitch Cleary reported that Pickett advised the Demons of his homesickness during his exit meeting with coach Simon Goodwin.
Tom Morris also reported on this situation in August, confirming these reports.
“Understand Kysaiah Pickett told Melbourne officials if he is to be traded, his preference is WA & not SA,” he said.
“It’s not unusual for Kozzy to flirt with moving clubs and being a touch unsettled; the Dees are confident they can hold onto him.”
The potential move was heavily publicised during the 2024 trade period, but no deal was ever officially made.
Pickett is also close friends with new Dockers recruits Shai Bolton from Richmond and Quinton Narkle from Port Adelaide.
Reigniting the trade rumours again, The Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph reported that Pickett has been messaging his friends who play for Fremantle about a potential move.
“Kysaiah Pickett has been texting his mates who play for Fremantle, telling them he will be in Dockers colours next year,” Ralph wrote.
The 23-year-old also added fuel to the fire by liking a comment posted on a Fremantle fan page that announced his cousin Isiah Dudley will be joining Fremantle as a train-on prospect.
The most recent came on Friday, when he liked a comment by a Fremantle fan page on Facebook that stated his cousin Isiah Dudley joining the side as a train-on was all part of the plan to lure him west.
“He is Kozzy Pickett’s cousin. Bolton and (Quinton) Narkle are Kozzy’s best mates. All part of the plan baby!” a post from the Flagmantle account said.
Pickett’s partner Ardu Cubillo is sisters with Narkle’s partner Taylah, showing how close the pair are.
Pickett and his partner also welcomed their first child, Belleny, on April 19, 2024, which could be another reason for him and his young family to move to the West.

Pickett was selected for the Indigenous All Stars team, which is scheduled to be played on February 15 at Optus Stadium.
This will give him the opportunity to fly over to the West and even speak to some Fremantle players as he weighs up his future.
