Carlton recruit Jagga Smith is looking towards a round one debut.
Speaking to the media, the number three pick in the 2024 draft revealed he has his sights set on a debut in the Blues’ round one game against Richmond.
“It’s definitely an aim” Smith said.
“I think I’ll try to put my best foot forward for the coaches and try and impact for the team.”

The 18 year old was highly touted in his draft year.
Playing for Vic Metro, Smith averaged 29.2 disposals and 6.8 clearances.
Meanwhile, playing for the Oakleigh Chargers in the Coates Talent League, Smith had some outstanding performances, including gathering 50 disposals one week, followed by 40 disposals the next.
He also showed his abilities at VFL level when he played for Richmond’s VFL team, collecting 31 disposals in his first game, and 27 the following week.
Smith said that whilst a round one debut is his aim, he’s also focusing on taking it all in as he begins his AFL career.
“I’m just focusing on taking it day by day. There’s been a lot of new information coming into a new club.”

After the Blues made some surprise moves in the off-season, which saw Matt Kennedy (Western Bulldogs) and Matt Owies (West Coast) traded out of the club, as well as the delistings of Jack Martin and Jack Carroll (later signed by Geelong and St Kilda, respectively), the 2024 draft saw the club stock up on young talent.
In addition to Smith at pick three, Carlton also drafted father-son’s Ben and Lucas Camporeale and Harry O’Farrell in the National Draft, whilst Harry Charleson was taken by the club in the Rookie Draft .

The Blues also added GWS veteran Nick Haynes to their defensive stocks, whilst Irish recruit Matt Duffy officially joins the club after sustaining an ACL injury prior to the 2024 season.
