Indigenous All-Stars squad announced

By Kane Imeson

The AFL has announced the squad for the Indigenous All-Stars team that will take on Fremantle.

After 11 members of the squad were named late last year, a full squad of 31 players was announced, with the final team to be finalised closer to the game.

The talented squad, who will be coached by Xavier Clarke, features seven All Australians, nine premiership players, six top ten draft picks, and three Mark of the Year winners.

There are representatives from 16 of the 18 clubs, with Sydney and GWS the only clubs to have no representation.

Port Adelaide are the most represented club in the squad, with former number one draft pick Jason Horne-Francis, Jase Burgoyne, Jeremy Finlayson and Willie Rioli all selected.

Other members of the squad announced include premiership player and two time All-Australian Steven May, Lions premiership duo Callum Ah Chee and Charlie Cameron, North Melbourne captain Jy Simpkin, and Essendon small forward Jade Gresham.

Gresham spoke about what it means to play in this game and expressed his desire to see it played every year.

"All the boys are eager to play so it would be awesome if we could do it every year. It's an honour and a privilege to represent your culture,” Gresham said.

"You're representing your culture, your family and your friends, so to be able to do that is something really important and I think we should do that more.”

The Indigenous All-Stars vs Fremantle match will take place at Optus Stadium on Saturday, February 15.
