As the end of the BBL|14 home-and away season approaches, the race is on for the final top four spot.
With the Sydney Sixers, Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder having already locked in their place in the finals, five teams remain in contention for that final spot.
Though the Sixers, Hurricanes and Thunder have guaranteed themselves finals, the three teams are still fighting for top position, which would mean a home game in the Qualifier final.

Whilst the Melbourne Stars currently sit in fourth position, the Brisbane Heat, Adelaide Strikers, Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Renegades are hot on their heels.
After losing their first five games of the season, the Stars have had a remarkable resurgence, having won their last four games. This included a masterclass performance from Glenn Maxwell against the Renegades.
To cement themselves a finals berth, the Stars must beat the Hurricanes in their last game of the home-and-away season. They must also rely on other results going their way.

For the Heat, currently having only won 3 games, plus a washout against the Sixers, they will play finals if they can win both of their remaining home-and-away games, thanks to the extra point obtained in the wash out. However, if they lose one, they can still play finals, though like the Stars, must rely on other results to go their way.

The Strikers must defeat the Scorchers in their final home-and-away game, plus rely on the Heat and Stars to lose their games.
The Scorchers, whilst needing a lot to go their way, are still in finals contention. They will need the three teams above them to lose all their remaining games, whilst also defeating the Strikers.
Finally, the Renegades, whilst only a slim chance, can still play finals. However, a lot will need to go their way. In addition to needing to win their final game against the Heat and having the Stars lose, they will also need the net run rate results of the Scorchers v Strikers game to work in their favour to be any chance of playing finals.
